OFFICIAL OPENING - WMBC MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK

The official opening of the new purpose built Mountain Bike Park is being launched on Saturday 19 August at 1.30pm. We are meeting at the Rawhiti Gate located 500m up the Eastern end of Burma Road. The owners of the forest will be present to open the new park and the official name of the park will be revealed on the day. There will be a short ceremony followed by a guided tour of the first track for the owners, this will be followed by the inaugural time trial around the track. This will be a fun filled afternoon with activities for all. Feel free to bring along some food and drink for the afternoon.

Track Builders Go Hard!

Three weekends and with some blood, sweat and tears we have knocked the bugger off! About 25 Volunteers got stuck in and carved out some fantastic single track over some varying terrain. We now have a loop up in the Rawhiti Forest suitable for grade 2 - 3 riders (Beginner to Average ability) plus a purpose built exit track to avoid collisions on the formed forestry roads. The loop track starts with a short and sharp gnarly uphill before dropping into some undulating terrain with stunning vistas, native forest and adrenalin charged single track. There are tree root filled descending corners, Fern Tunnels and plenty of bush to add your own diversion should you wish. We have only just started tapping the potential - so if you see a potential track emerging in your travels - contact Malcolm Lowe and he will help you make it a reality! (You might even get it named it after you).
